The Sounders are dominating possession. Once again, there was a ball bouncing around in the box. Osvaldo Alonso came flying in to kick the sitting ball when Sam Cronin came in, studs flying, and collided with the top of Ozzie’s foot. Alonso went skidding off in pain and Cronin earned a yellow card.
Alonso is one of the most important players on the pitch, playing the defensive midfielder role, helping out what can sometimes be a shaky backline. His injury earlier this year coincided with the worst of the Sounders’ form.
