Adam Morrison turns 26 this coming Monday. He could be on his third team since 2006 by then. After being selected third overall by none other than Michael Jordan, Morrison struggled and midway through his rookie season, was benched. He then tore his ACL in a preseason exhibition game. In 2009, the Bobcats traded Morrison to the Lakers. He fared no better in L.A.
↵The Lakers have not re-signed Morrison and he now hopes to land somewhere as a free agent. He has worked out for the L.A. Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs.
↵Maybe Morrison is among the few athletes that could not recover fully from an ACL tear. Maybe Morrison was just poorly evaluated. Whatever the case, I wish him luck, because though there is nothing tragic about Adam’s story, it’s still sad when someone is deprived what they love most in this world. And though it’s obvious Morrison will never be a great professional basketball player, no one would ever question his love of the game.
