Bird, Cash Represent Storm At WNBA Midseason Showcase On ESPN

With the World Championships coming up this fall, the WNBA and USA Basketball teamed up to provide the team an extra tune-up game and WNBA fans a unique treat.

Rather than a traditional All-Star team putting a team of Eastern Conference players against Western Conference players, the game will essentially be a tune up for the USA Women's Senior National Team. WNBA players selected to represent the country in the World Championships will play for Team USA against a team of remaining WNBA stars selected by the fans and coaches.

Storm players Sue Bird, Swin Cash, and Lauren Jackson were all voted into the game by the fans. However Bird and Cash will play for Team USA while Jackson will not participate as she continues to recover from a concussion suffered last weekend against the Los Angeles Sparks. By virtue of coaching the Storm to the best record in the league right now, Brian Agler will coach the WNBA stars.

The game will begin at 12:30 on ESPN and online at ESPN360.com

Bird and Cash will also participate in the three point contest before the game, which can be viewed online at WNBA.com.
