Independence Bowl: Air Force Falcon Flies Away, Found In Downtown

The Independence Bowl has been spectacular, but not because of the play on the field. No, the Air Force mascot, a live falcon, has been the main event at the bowl game. While Georgia Tech and Air Force battled it out on the field, the bird was not amused, opting to take flight and get the heck out of the stadium. Yes, the Falcon went AWOL in the middle of the game.

yes, it's true - the Air Force live mascot, the Falcon, has flown away. I shouldn't laugh. I really shouldn't.

Alas, the drama came to a quick close. After a frantic search, the falcon was found in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana, perhaps taking in the scenes. I hear Shreveport is lovely this time of year. I can't imagine how they found a falcon in the middle of downtown, either. It's not like it'd stand out in a crowd or anything.

And so we have the hazards of a live mascot. The University of Washington is breaking in their own mascot, though Dubs, the Huskies ... erm ... Husky, won't be taking flight anytime soon.
