FCS Playoffs: Eastern Washington To Host Villanova On Friday Night

The Eastern Washington Eagles used a thrilling, late comeback on Saturday night to drop North Dakota State in the FCS quarterfinals. Down seven with just seconds to play, quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell found Nicholas Edwards in the back of the end zone for the game-tying touchdown. In the overtime period, Eastern struck fast, then forced a fumble at the goal-line on the ensuing possession to seal a game and secure a berth into the FCS semifinals.

The Eagles will face off against the Villanova Wildcats on Friday in Spokane at Roos Field. The Wildcats dropped top-seeded Appalachian State on Saturday to secure a berth in the final four. As the higher seed, Eastern will play host to the Wildcats in Spokane on the red turf at Roos Field.

The game takes place Friday at 5 p.m. in Spokane and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2. The defending FCS champion Wildcats and top-ranked Eagles square-off with a berth to the FCS championship on the line. The winner moves forward to face the winner of Saturday’s Georgia Southern-Delaware game on Jan. 7 for the FCS title.
