Eastern Washington To Face Villanova In FCS Semifinals After Thrilling Win Over North Dakota State

The Eastern Washington Eagles are heading to the FCS semifinals after dropping the North Dakota State Bisons, 38-31. It took an impressive fourth quarter drive that included two fourth down conversions for the Eagles to force overtime. Bo Levi Mitchell hit Nicholas Edwards on a fade route to cap the drive and keep the Eagles championship hopes alive.

The action was just beginning to heat up on the snowy turf at Eastern's Roos Field. The Bisons won the coin toss in overtime, electing to play defense first. Eastern made them pay right away. Mitchell hit Tyler Clark on the first play from scrimmage for 25-yards and the score, putting the Eagles in control heading into the second half of the overtime period.

Even still, that wasn't the craziest play of the day. With the Bisons driving in overtime, picking up two critical third downs along the way, quarterback Brock Jensen lunged at the goal-line with a chance to tie, only to see the ball squirt away. Eastern recovered in the end zone and, after video replay confirmed, won the game and a trip to the FCS semifinals.

The Eagles will square-off against the Villanova Wildcats in the semifinals after 'Nova upset top-seeded Appalachian State on ESPN Saturday morning.
