Dave Niehaus Memorial Takes Place Saturday At 1:10 P.M. At Safeco Field

In just about an hour, at 1:10 p.m., Seattle will gather at Safeco Field to honor and remember Mariners' broadcasting legend Dave Niehaus. Billed as a "celebration of life," players, friends and family will be at Safeco to say goodbye to Niehaus after the Hall of Fame broadcaster passed away on Nov. 11 following a heart attack. Niehaus was 75.

The memorial will be broadcast on FSN and KOMOTV  for those in the Seattle area that are unable to attend. Both stations plan to air the celebration commercial free. 710 ESPN in Seattle also plans to air the ceremony over the radio airwaves. Parking at the Safeco Field garage and admission are both free for those near downtown Seattle.

Mariners' greats Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez and Dan Wilson are all scheduled to speak at the ceremony, along with Niehaus' broadcasting partner Ron Fairly and others. The list of those appearing via video is a who's who of legends in the sport, highlighted by Ken Griffey Jr., Vin Scully and Jon Miller.

The ceremony begins at 1:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. We'll be following the memorial here, in our StoryStream and will pass along a streaming link as soon as it shows up.
