The Oregon Ducks remained atop the USA Today Coaches Poll today after a 53-16 win over the Washington Huskies at Autzen Stadum yesterday. The Ducks, No. 1 for the third straight week, picked up 50 of a possible 59 first place votes, giving them a comfortable lead over No. 2 Auburn. The Tigers held onto the No. 2 spot after cruising to victory over Chattanooga.
The TCU Horned Frogs leapfrogged Boise State -- a recurring theme in the polls -- after blowing out MWC foe Utah in a matchup between top 10 teams yesterday. The Utes fell 10 spots to No. 15 with the loss. Wisconsin rounded out the top 5, moving up two spots from No. 7.
The LSU Tigers returned to the top 10 this week, checking in at No. 6, up five spots from last week. LSU defeated Alabama, knocking the Crimson Tide out of the top 10. Michigan State moved back into the top 10 this week, garnering enough votes to take the No. 10 spot, up five from last week.
The Pac-10 had three teams in the top-20 again this week. With a win over former No. 13 Arizona, the Stanford Cardinal moved up three spots to No. 9. The Wildcats fell six spots to No. 19 with the loss. No other Pac-10 teams received votes this week.
Oregon's win over the Washington Huskies, and continued hold on the No. 1 ranking in the Coaches Poll, should keep them at in the drivers' seat when tonight's BCS rankings. The Ducks also sat atop the AP Poll last week and should remain there when it's released later this morning.
