BCS Rankings Ready To Implode: Alabama Dominating Auburn At The Half, 24-7

If you listen closely, you can hear the collective screams of Boise State fans everywhere. Ahead of tonight's huge match-up against the Nevada Wolfpack, Boise State is primed to jump into the No. 2 spot in the BCS rankings. With Alabama completely dominating Auburn in the Iron Bowl, the BCS rankings are due for a shake-up on Sunday. And Boise State stands to be the biggest benefactor.

The Crimson Tide are putting on a clinic at home, moving the ball at will to the tune of yards of 335 total offense. For all the acclaim the Alabama backfield tandem of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson get, it's Greg McElroy stealing the show in Tuscaloosa. McElroy had an outstanding half through the air, throwing for 335 yards and two touchdowns. And then there's Julio Jones. The junior wide receiver has terrorized the Tiger defense, catching seven passes for 174 yards and a touchdown. Ingram and Richardson combined for just 30 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The Auburn offense has been stuck in reverse all afternoon, only finally getting into gear just before the half. A 36 yard strike from Newton to Emory Blake got the Tigers on the board, after the offense had gained just seven total yards in the first quarter and a half. Newton finished with 97 yards and a touchdown in the half. The Tigers' rushing attack has been non-existent, as well, with four players combining for -10 yards, including sacks, on the ground through two quarters.

With the Alabama defense looking incredibly stifling, the Tigers are ripe for an upset, sending shockwaves through the BCS rankings. Boise State, with a win tonight over Nevada, is poised to jump both TCU and Auburn, setting itself up for a date with the BCS National Championship game. The Oregon Ducks hold a firm grasp on the No. 1 spot, as long as they take care of business tonight, against Arizona, and next week, against Oregon State.
