Week 12 is in the books and it's time to start looking at the Pac-10 bowl race. Three times are bowl eligible thus far and the Pac-10 is in danger of being unable to fill its bowl allotment. The Oregon Ducks sit at No. 1 in the BCS rankings and are primed for a matchup in Glendale with the Auburn Tigers for the national championship. Arizona and Stanford are also bowl-eligible, and the Cardinal look primed for a run to the Rose Bowl.
Here's how it looks right now.
BCS National Championship Game: Oregon Ducks vs. BCS No. 2
Rose Bowl: Stanford Cardinal vs. Big Ten
Alamo Bowl: Arizona Wildcats (Pac-10 No. 3) vs. Big 12
Holiday Bowl: Washington or Cal
Sun Bowl: Empty
Las Vegas Bowl: Empty
Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl: Empty
Here's where it gets fun. If the Washington Huskies win out, they'll head to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl. If California beats Washington next week, the Bears head to the Holiday Bowl and the Huskies stay home for the holidays.
UCLA-Arizona State is an elimination game next week, with both teams having to win out to make a bowl. The Sun Devils situation is further complicated by the two FCS teams they faced, forcing them to request a waiver from the NCAA for bowl eligibility.
Oregon State must also win one of its remaining two games, over Stanford or Oregon, to become bowl eligible. That scenario looks unlikely as it stands now.
If everything plays out as expected, the Pac-10 will not fill three of its obligations, the Sun Bowl, Las Vegas Bowl and Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.
