College Football Rankings, Week 12: Oregon Leads Four Pac-10 Teams In AP Poll

The Oregon Ducks remained atop the AP Top 25 today after a nail-biter against the California Golden Bears in Berkeley last night. The Ducks picked up 38 of a possible 60 first place votes to top the Auburn Tigers by 52 points this week. Joining the Ducks in this week's poll were three Pac-10 mates: the USC Trojans, Arizona Wildcats and Stanford Cardinal. It's the first time in weeks the Pac-10 has had more than three teams in the rankings.

Boise State slid into the No. 3 spot with an easy win over rival Idaho on Friday night. The Broncos jumped TCU in the polls after the Horned Frogs squeaked out a win against San Diego State yesterday. LSU rounded out the top 5 with an easy win over Louisiana-Monroe yesterday.

The Pac-10 had a strong showing, even with Arizona falling for the second week in a row. The Stanford Cardinal remained at No. 7 in the poll with a close win over the Arizona State Sun Devils last night in Tempe. Arizona fell five spots to No. 23 with a loss to the USC Trojans, the second in as many weeks for the Wildcats. USC made a triumphant return to the rankings, jumping up to No. 20.

Oregon and Auburn are locked in a close race for the top spot in the BCS rankings, but have put some distance between themselves and the competition, either Boise State or TCU. The Utah Utes loss to Notre Dame yesterday hurts TCU's strength of schedule and may be enough for the Broncos to jump up a spot to No. 3.
