The California Golden Bears look to improve to .500 in Pac-12 play with a win over the Washington State Cougars. Running back C.J. Anderson has a chance to follow up his career-high day against the Bruins with another performance against a soft run defense.
The Cal Golden Bears will look to follow up their upset of the UCLA Bruins with a win over the Washington State Cougars on Saturday. Both teams are 2-4, with Cal's 1-2 Pac-12 record slightly better than Washingotn's 0-3.
Cal has won seven straight against the Cougars, dating to 2005, with three of those wins being decided by seven points or less. Washington State's defense in 2012 is ranked 93rd, giving up an average of 30.3 points per game, but Cal isn't doing much better. They're ranked No. 80, giving up an average of 28 points per game.
The Golden Bears scored plenty against UCLA, rolling the Bruins 43-17. Zach Maynard threw for a season-high 295 yards while C.J. Anderson had a career-high 151. Anderson may have another big opportunity against Washington State, who are yielding a per-game average of more than 151 rushing yards.
Odds: Cal is favored by seven points.
