Jeff Tuel Injury: WSU Quarterback Leaves Game With Broken Collarbone

Jeff Tuel was diagnosed with a broken clavicle, sustained in his first series of the year for WSU.

Washington State quarterback Jeff Tuel entered the game late after dealing with a stomach virus and didn't last long. Tuel returned to the locker room again, this time with a fractured left clavicle. The Cougars ended the drive he played with a field goal and it's unclear how long he'll be out. But for WSU, this is about as bad as it gets, despite the results on the field thus far.

The only time Tuel appeared to take contact was on a scramble inside the red zone, when he scrambled to the right sideline and took a shot as he stepped out of bounds. He did, however, finish the drive, which ended in a field goal. Shortly thereafter, he was taken to the locker room for x-rays.

The injury is not season-ending, as far as we know, but it could keep him out of action for a significant portion of the year. The good news is that it's not his throwing arm, but it's a painful injury nonetheless.

Marshall Lobbestael will take over as quarterback in Tuel's absence.

We'll be back with more on Tuel's injury as it becomes available.
