WSU vs. SDSU: Washington St. Faces Difficult Test in RB Ronnie Hillman

After dominating Idaho State and UNLV during the first two weeks of the season the Washington State Cougars head down to sunny San Diego to take on the SDSU Aztecs at Qualcomm Stadium. One thing the Cougs haven't really faced yet this season is a dominating running back, which they'll get in San Diego's Ronnie Hillman this Saturday.

The now sophomore back led all collegiate freshman in 2010 with 1,532 rushing yards on 262 carries for a 5.8 YPC average. Unfortunately for WSU he is doing even better this year, averaging 6.8 per carry after gaining 306 yards in SDSU's first two victories of the season.

"He's very sudden in his movements, very explosive," WSU Head Coach Paul Wulff said. "He seems to glide with his feet, but when he sees a hole, he can really burst through it. He's very, very productive. Everyone they face, he gets yards. He's going to get his yards against us, we know that. But we've got to keep him from having a major impact for their offense."

Luckily the Cougs have a bit of inside information about the 5'10" 190 pound bruiser in the form of freshman QB Cody Clements who played with Hillman at La Habra High just outside of Los Angeles. Hillman lead his Highlanders to a CIF title, winning Freeway League MVP honors while Clements was still in school there, knowing full well what this man is capable of. Hopefully it will come in handy.
