WSU Vs. UNLV: Marshall Lobbestael Wants A Heisman

The headline is overstating it, but we don't care. With Jeff Tuel on the sidelines, the victim of a broken collarbone last week, fifth-year senior Marshall Lobbestael has stepped in and stepped up for the Washington State Cougars. Lobbestael was superb last weekend as the Cougars hammered Idaho State, and picked up right where he left off in the first half on Saturday against UNLV.

How bad is it for UNLV thus far? Lobbestael, who has been hit-or-miss in his stints as a starter, has four touchdowns in the first half. And we're just halfway through the second quarter. After Rickey Galvin broke the scoreless tie, Lobbestael took over, firing four touchdown passes on four drives as the WSU offense fires on all cylinders.

Lobbestael found senior Jared Karstetter twice, Isiah Barton once and, finally, tight end Andrei Lintz as the Cougars jumped out to a 35-0 lead. That's where we stand right now in Pullman, with Washington State all over UNLV in the second quarter.
