WSU Vs. Stanford Score Update: Carl Winston Puts Cougars On The Board, Stanford Leads 10-7 At Halftime

Stay connected for news and updates

The stars for the WSU Cougars through the first half against the Stanford Cardinal have been the Cougars defense and Carl Winston.

WSU defense was able to hold Stanford to nothing more than a field goal in the first quarter. Following a Jared Karstetter fumble that was recovered by Stanford, the Cougars were very nearly able to stop another Cardinal red zone push before Jeremy Stewart was able to find the end zone and put Stanford up, 10-0.

With just under six minutes left in the second quarter, Cjester Su'a was able to pick up a Stepfan Taylor fumble, and Carl Winston had a couple of carries to bring the Cougars to the Stanford red zone. A few plays later, and Winston was completing a two-yard rush to get WSU on the board. The game went to the half with the score 10-7 in Stanford's favor.

WSU's defense is looking very sharp, but the offense will need to match their level of play to keep the Cougars in this one for the second half.
