Washington Vs. San Diego State: Huskies Prevail, But Aztecs Provide Good Early Test

Fourteen first-quarter points proved enough to send the Washington Huskies to a season-opening victory over San Diego State Aztecs, 21-12.

Quarterback Keith Price led the Huskies, finishing the day 25-of-35 for 222 yards and one touchdown to help Washington start its season with a victory. Safety Will Shamburger's third quarter, 44-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown proved key in keeping the Aztecs at bay, leaving some room for questions moving forward.

Maybe it wasn't the easiest win. It was a vanilla victory. The Huskies have work to do both offensively and defensively if they ever want to defeat the likes of Louisiana State, Oregon or USC.

Despite the questions, there was optimism surrounding Price over at UW Dog Pound.

Price is a playmaker. He is extremely accurate on any throw under fifteen yards. His deep accuracy is not on par with where it was last season, but he is still the second-best quarterback in the PAC-12 even without great accuracy on the deep ball.

[Wide receiver] Kasen Williams is a beast. Steve Sarkisian moved him all over the field, getting him the ball in space time after time. The bubble screen is going to be a huge weapon this season with Kasen getting the ball.
