San Diego State Vs. Washington 2012: Huskies Bite Aztecs, 21-12

Believe it or not, there are other teams in the Pac-12 aside from USC and Oregon. One of those teams is the Washington Huskies, and like their Pac-12 superstar brethren, they won tonight, too, beating the San Diego State University Aztecs 21-12.

It looked like it was going to be a long night for the Aztecs after quarterback Ryan Katz was intercepted in the first quarter. In the next series, Washington would go on to score a touchdown on a two-yard run from Sankey. With 2:43 left in the first quarter, the Huskies would score again on an eight-yard Keith Price pass to Kasen Williams to extend the lead to 14-0.

The Aztecs looked to have life in the second quarter, when Katz connected with Tim Vizzi on a 47-yard touchdown pass. SDSU attempted and failed at a two-point conversion.

The score would hold at 14-6 until late in the third quarter when SDSU wide receiver Colin Lockett fumbled the ball following an eight-yard run. Washington's Will Shamburger would recover the fumble and take it 47-yards to the end zone. With a successful PAT, the score was now 21-6.

The Aztecs would keep fighting well into the fourth quarter. A one-yard Adam Muema rush into the end zone would bring the score to 21-12. San Diego State went for the two-point conversion once again, and failed again. That would be it for the scoring on either side, giving the Huskies their first win in their first game of the season, 21-12.

Box Score Hero: Washington quarterback Keith Price went 25-for-35 through the air for 222 yards.

Rankings Ramifications: Beating San Diego State doesn't do very much for Washington in the polls. SDSU hasn't been the same since Brady Hoke defected to Michigan.

But Did They Cover? The Huskies were favored by 14.5. By my calculations, that's a negative on the cover, ghost rider.
