Huskies QB Keith Price: 'I think I’m pressing too hard and trying to be something I’m not'

Scott Olmos-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Washington Huskies quarterback Keith Price is trying to get his team back on track by returning to a carefree attitude.

After his team fell to the No. 2 Oregon Ducks on Saturday, Washington Huskies quarterback Keith Price said he's been pressing too hard. That has caused him to lose his confidence, and he vows that he'll return to his old self.

Enjoying the game and worrying about his own mistakes rather than those of his teammates is his priority, according to The News Tribune.

"I think I'm pressing too hard and trying to be something I'm not." Price said. "I can feel myself being serious. Being too serious instead of, I guess, my carefree attitude. Just getting back to that.

"I think guys respond better when I'm like that. Guys see me tense up, I think that's how our team (becomes) offensively and defensively. They look at me. If guys are noticing that, obviously, I'm doing a bad job."

Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian said that Price has been hard on himself. Washington's offensive line is youthful after injuries struck prior to the season. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was hurt in the second half against the Ducks, and the running game is still a work in process.

Price has thrown five touchdowns and four interceptions this season after throwing 40 touchdowns to 15 picks last year.
