As expected, the Washington State Cougars' player ratings in NCAA Football 12 leave much to be desired. The Cougars are the lowest on the Pac-12 totem pole after finishing the 2010 campaign with just two wins, one of which came at the last minute against Montana State. Though the Cougars do have some young talent, the lack of top-end players is clear in NCAA Football 12; none of the Cougs' stars are ranked in the 90s overall.
Here is the video showcasing all the rankings. The Cougars section gets started at the nine minute mark.
Marquess Wilson is the highest-rated Cougar this year at 86 overall with 91 speed, 90 agility and 92 acceleration. Wilson made an immediate impact as a freshman for the Cougars, emerging as Jeff Tuel's top-target right out of the gate and becoming a consistent bright spot in an otherwise dark year. Jared Karstetter, a senior this coming year, is a 79 overall with 88 speed. Isaiah Barton is a 74 and Kristoff Williams is a 67.
Tuel is the highest-rated quarterback on the roster and it's not even close. The junior checks-in at an 81 overall ranking with 75 speed and 85 acceleration. In the backfield, Logwone Mitz is listed as a 72 and none of the Washington State backs stand out. Rickey Galvin, who's expected to see significant playing time after breaking his arm on his first play from scrimmage as a freshman, is listed at 59 overall, but does possess 90 speed.
The defensive line rotation is a little funky, with Justin Clayton listed as a starter at left end (70 overall). Travis Long is listed as the starter at right end and is the highest-rated defensive lineman at 76 overall. Brandon Rankin anchors the interior at 72 overall, followed closely by Anthony Laurenzi at 71.
Alex Hoffman-Ellis leads the linebackers with a 79 ranking and 83 speed. His strength is listed at 69. C.J. Mizell, who's currently buried on the depth chart, is at 76 overall, the second-best rating in the linebacker corps. In the secondary, Deone Bucannon is listed as an 81 overall player, though his number is different from the one listed on the WSU depth chart. Bucannon is also the highest-rated player on the defensive side of the ball.
Bucannon, Wilson and Tuel are the Cougars impact players. Overall, it's not pretty for Washington State, but it's about what you'd expect after seasons of futility.
