2011 AP All-America Team: Isaiah Thomas Named Honorable Mention

Washington's Isaiah Thomas continued to pick up accolades on Monday as he was named 2011 AP All-America Honorable Mention. Thomas was the Huskies' leader on the court throughout the 2010-2011 season as Washington made a late surge to secure an automatic NCAA Tournament berth.

It was Thomas' all-around game that propelled the Huskies to the Pac-10 Tournament Championship and into the NCAA Tournament, where Washington advanced to the round of 32 before falling to North Carolina. His assist numbers, noted in the press release below, were necessary as Washington lost its point guard, Abdul Gaddy, to a torn ACL. With Gaddy out, Thomas rose to the occasion, showing versatility while balancing a scoring and distributing role for the Huskies.

Thomas (Tacoma, Wash.) led the Pac-10 in assists, ranked fourth in scoring, 8th in steals (1.3 spg) and 8th in three-point makes per game (1.7). His 213 assists are the second most in UW single-season history. Thomas was a First Team All-Pac-10 selection.

Arizona's Derrick Williams, fresh off a deep NCAA Tournament run, was named to the second team. Jimmer Fredette, Nolan Smith, JaJuan Johnson, Jared Sullinger and Kemba Walker made up the first team. Fredette pulled in the most votes, just missing a unanimous selection with 64 of 65 first-team votes.
