Angelo Chol Commits To Arizona Over North Carolina, Kansas

At long last, Angelo Chol announced his decision to the world on Thursday afternoon, choosing to play his college ball at the University of Arizona over North Carolina and Kansas. Chol took his fifth, and final, official visit this past weekend, taking in a Washington basketball game with Tony Wroten and Hikeem Stewart. At the time, Stewart and Wroten were almost certain Chol was headed to Washington, but when it came time to narrow his list down to three, Washington was missing from the list.

Chol is a premier power forward in the class of 2011, ranked No. 10 at his position. At 6-foot-9, 210 pounds, Chol was the big man Washington head coach had been looking for in an effort to bolster the Huskies’ post presence in 2011. Though Romar’s recruiting class is already excellent, a commitment from Chol would’ve been the cherry on top, perhaps pushing Washington into the upper-echelon in 2011.

Instead, he’ll head to Arizona, where head coach Sean Miller is putting together an excellent program built on some of the best recruiting in the Pac-10. Chol is Miller’s fourth commitment in the class of 2011, joining five-star guard Josiah Turner, four-star guard Nick Johnson and four-star forward Sidiki Johnson. With those four in the fold, Miller has himself one of the top 2011 recruiting classes.
