Kasen Williams Named Parade Magazine Player Of The Year

Kasen Williams continues to rack up accolades ahead of his arrival on campus at the University of Washington. On Wednesday, Williams was named the Parade Magazine High School Player of the Year (via Mason Kelly at the Seattle Times), decided by the magazine’s editors and chosen from a crop of All-Americans. Williams is the first player from the state of Washington to be receive the award in the 48-year history of the magazine.

At 6-foot-2, 197 pounds, Williams was a man among boys on the field for Skyline High School. He finished his career at Skyline with 235 catches for 4,121 yards and 56 touchdowns. In August, Williams made it official, committing to the Washington Huskies in a ceremony at the high school. He, and the rest of the Washington recruits, will sign a letter of intent next week as the signing period opens.

In addition to the Parade Magazine honors, Williams was also named to the US Army All-American Bowl, joining future teammate Austin Seferian-Jenkins earlier this month in the all-star game that featured some of the top high school talent in the country. The AP named Williams the top player in the state of Washington, as well, and the Seattle Times ranked him as one of five “Blue Chip” prospects this year.
