Tony Wroten Commitment Bumps Washington To No. 18 In 2011 Class Rankings

ESPN acted fast in light of today’s commitments by top 100 prospects Tony Wroten Jr. and Jabari Brown. Brown, who is Oregon bound, and Wroten, who chose Washington, both had a substantial impact on the rankings of their respective choices.

According to ESPN, Washington now holds the 18th best recruiting class for 2011 after securing three verbal commitments so far. Oregon, on the other hand, moved up to 14th, holding verbals from two top 100 prospects — Brown and Bruce Barron.

The rankings are by no means final this early on as many classes are just beginning to take shape. Washington is believed to still have two spots open for the class of 2011. The Huskies are waiting on top-ranked forwards Angelo Chol and Norvel Pelle, both of whom have UW high on their list.

With Wroten and fellow Seattle native Hikeem Stewart on board, the next task for Romar and the Dawgs is closing on the two forwards to round out the stellar class. Stewart has already openly stated he’s working on the two, leaving little doubt that Wroten will help his efforts.

While it may be the 18th best now, the addition of Pelle, Chol or both could easily make this the best recruiting class Washington has seen in some time. The two forwards appear to be holding off until the spring to make their decisions, leaving fans waiting and hoping for the best until then.
