Class of 2011 basketball prospect Jabari Brown announced his verbal commitment to the University of Oregon Ducks on ESPNU Thursday. "Next year I will be playing at Oregon University -- University of Oregon -- for Coach Altman and his staff," Brown said.
Here's video of Jabari Brown's commitment decision announcement. He puts on a black Ducks hat as he makes it official.
Brown went on to explain his decision: "Oregon landed me because they were the best fit for me. Coach Altman and his staff did a great job of recruiting me, making me feel at home, making me feel comfortable. My visit was great. They told me everything I think I needed to hear out of a school."
He also admitted that the school's close relationship with Nike, through the company's founder and Oregon graduate Phil Knight, "was definitely a factor" in his decision. "I love Nike. I've always worn Nike. But ultimately it was the coaching staff because I would never just use a school because of the shoe. I have to really feel comfortable there and that's how coach Altman made me feel."
