Forward Fredy Montero has reportedly been loaned to Colombian club Millionarios, which could be the first step to his increased role on the national team or a loan to a European club.
Seattle Sounders' all-time leading scorer Fredy Montero may have played his last game as a member of the club. Citing a report by FutbolRed.com, Joshua Mayers of the Seattle Times writes that Montero is headed to Colombian club Millonarios. Montero is being loaned to Millonarios for a minimum of six months, but the loan could be extended to a full year.
Montero leads the club with 60 goals since joining the expansion Sounders in 2009. Mayers added that the forward's move to Millonarios would also help his chances for an increased role on the Colombian national team or pave the way for a transfer to a European club.
It's unknown what, if any, immediate salary cap and roster relief the Sounders would receive from the deal. The club finished the season 15-8-11, good for third place in the Western Conference, eventually losing to the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference championship.
