Fredy Montero Pulls Sounders Level With Red Bulls, 2-2

Fredy Montero is on the bench once again as the Sounders face off against an Eastern Conference opponent for the first time this season.

The Seattle Sounders have turned a nine-game winless streak into a three-game unbeaten streak, and they'll look to keep things moving in the right direction against a struggling New York Red Bulls side. Fredy Montero is on the bench once again, while new Red Bulls striker Sebastien Le Toux gets the start for New York.

The Sounders can close to within three points second-placed Real Salt Lake and keep league-leaders San Jose within their sights, but they'll need to make things happen in the attacks as the Red Bulls can be counted on to score goals. Sigi Schmid has opted to keep the Eddie Johnson-Mauro Rosales forward pairing, with Fredy Montero starting the game on the bench for the second consecutive MLS game.
