Seattle Sounders Vs. Manchester United: Lineups

As expected, both sides go with strong starting XI's in this one. The Sounders put out a lineup that fairly closely resembles their first choice selection, the only swap being Leo Gonzalez in for Tyson Wahl at left back (though it could be argued that Gonzalez's superior defensive abilities make this team more competitive.) It's somewhat intriguing that Tyson Wahl is not listed in the squad for Seattle this evening, especially considering the time of the year. The Sounders won't stick with their entire first team for much longer than the first 45, and one of the big questions on everyone's mind will be whether O'Brian White makes his return to the pitch tonight, and the expected appearance of Sounders trialist Mrisho Ngassa should be interesting to see as well.

United will start with a slightly less than full-strength side with Wayne Rooney and Park Ji-Sung on the bench to start. Rooney is almost certain to see action at some point. It's reasonable to expect an appearance from promising youngsters such as Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Tom Cleverly and it will be interesting to see whether United's newest signing David de Gea takes the field at some point in the second half.

It's worth noting that each team is allowed unlimited substitutions for this game.

Sounders XI: Keller, Riley, Parke, Ianni, Gonzalez; Rosales, Alonso, Friberg, Fernandez; Levesque, Montero

Sounders Bench: Boss, Ford, Carrasco, Estrada, Evans, Fucito, Graham, Hurtado, Jaqua, Montano, Neagle, Noonan, Scott, Seamon, Tetteh,White,Ngassa

Manchester United XI: Lindegaard, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Rafael; Nani, Anderson, Giggs; Owen, Young, Macheda

Manchester United Bench: De Gea, Amos, Jones, Rooney, Smalling, Park, Welbeck, Fabio, Evans, Obertan, Diouf, Cleverly
