We love Alex Morgan here in Seattle. She's our own little love connection, teaming with Seattle Sounders midfielder Servando Carrasco to form a cute, young couple. Their relationship was about the worst kept secret in the world this year, with Carrasco finally acknowledging it and discussing how they cope with different schedules about a month ago. And it was Morgan stepping up and burying France in the Women's World Cup semifinals in an excellent moment on Wednesday.
Here's Morgan racing behind the French defense and netting an excellent goal during Wednesday's semifinal matchup. The video quality is so-so (we'll post a better one soon), but it's certainly worth a watch.
Hopefully this opens the flood-gates for Morgan, who has been a super-sub for US Women's National Team head coach Pia Sundhage. As the youngest player on the team, Morgan may just be the future for the USA, and she showed why on Wednesday. And almost immediately, America fell in love with Morgan, reacting to her goal on Twitter with jubilation.
Somewhere, Servando Carrasco is smiling as he prepares for Wednesday night's US Open Cup matchup with the LA Galaxy. The USA is through to the Women's World Cup Finals, and Morgan played a big role. Not a bad start to the day at all.
