Soccer In Cascadia: Seattle Sounders Reveal Identity Of The Trialist, Portland Timbers Acquire Jack Jewsbury

March 1 is Roster Compliance Day for Major League Soccer, so it's inevitable that Cascadia soccer will see a few changes in the composition of its teams. Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps likely need to offer a few more contracts to round out their rosters, while Seattle Sounders needed to send a few boys home who didn't quite make their cut. In fact, Seattle has already announced that Danny Earls, Leone Cruz and Richard Martinez, all who had been training with the Sounders, have been sent home.

But in the big news of the day, Seattle has also revealed the identity of "The Trialist," a player who'd been training with the club but whose name had yet to be mentioned. Turns out it's Mauro Rosales, an Argentine international with ten caps to his name. Rosales can play out wide or as a second striker, and has played for Ajax, River Plate, and most recently Querétaro of the Mexican Primera Division.

Meanwhile, Portland have acquired midfielder Jack Jewsbury from Sporting Kansas City in return for allocation money. Jewsbury, 29, has been with Kansas City since way before they were the Sporks, playing eight seasons there. He was named the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year. He scored two goals last season and fifteen overall with the club.
