Offensive tackle Breno Giacomini (pectoral) and offensive guard John Moffitt (knee) sat out Wednesday's practice, and with the two linemen nursing injuries, second-year offensive guard James Carpenter could see his first NFL action in 10 months.

As the Seattle Seahawks prepare for their Week 4 game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, a depleted offensive line could lead to the NFL return of 2011 first-round pick James Carpenter.

Offensive tackle Breno Giacomini (pectoral) and offensive guard John Moffitt (knee) sat out Wednesday's practice, and with the two linemen nursing injuries, second-year offensive tackle-turned-guard Carpenter could see his first NFL action in 10 months. Carpenter tore his ACL in practice last November and missed the rest of the season because of it. Seattle head coach Pete Carroll is excited about getting the second-year player pick back in action, via The Seattle Times:

"Carp is alive and in action this week. Carp is back to life. He's done a great job in the process getting back here. We're thrilled that he's got a chance. ... He's really excited about it. It's been a tremendous comeback and he's way out ahead of schedule.

"We'll see how he makes it (through the week) and we look forward to him playing."

Other notable injury news following Wednesday's practice was that defensive tackle Greg Scruggs sat out with a wrist injury, while wide receiver Doug Baldwin and cornerback Byron Maxwell fully participated in practice.

Kickoff for Seahawks vs. Rams is scheduled for 10 a.m. PT at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, and the game will be televised on FOX.
