The Seattle Seahawks were able to sign their first round draft pick, defensive end Bruce Irvin, to a rookie contract. Irvin was taken with the No. 15 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, and became the first player from the first round to have signed their contract.
Seahawks agree to terms with DE Bruce Irvin, per a league source. He's the first first-rounder to sign in 2012.— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) May 7, 2012
The amount of the contract was not disclosed, but with the new rookie wage scale it should be slightly more than the No. 15 pick from the 2011 draft. The length of the contract is for four years with a team option for the fifth year. If the team picks up that option Irvin would make the average salary paid to the third-highest paid defensive end, through the 25th for the 2016 season.
