NFL Draft 2012: Seahawks Select Greg Scruggs In The 7th Round

The Seattle Seahawks picked Greg Scruggs, a defensive tackle from Louisville with their final pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Scruggs is a versatile player who can play both defensive tackle and defensive end. The former Louisville Cardinal missed the team's final four games, including the Belk Bowl. Scruggs was arrested for driving under the influence last December and was not allowed to play in the team's final game.

Despite this incident, most consider Scruggs a model football player who performed well both on and off the field.

Here's a scouting report from Pro Football Weekly:

Take-notice workout numbers surfaced at pro day - has a thick, well-proportioned build with very long arms and ran in the 4.7s at 284 pounds, though he could stand to improve his upper-body strength. Has a chance to provide depth, be it inside a 4-3 or as a 3-4 five-technique. However, his tape is less appealing, as he gives effort but does not consistently impact games. Functional strength and athletic ability leave something to be desired and he does not use his hands violently to disengage (marginal pass-rush value).
