With one day to go until the real deal goes down, analysts and writers scrambled this week to submit their final mock drafts. The 2012 NFL Draft starts Thursday evening, and Dane Brugler of CBS Sports and NFL Draft Scout inked Quinton Coples to the Seahawks in his final iteration, a pick that's not surprising to most Seattle fans. Here's his explanation:

12. Seattle Seahawks
Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina: The Seahawks ranked in the bottom half of the NFL last season with 33.0 sacks and Seattle's front office has yet to answer their pass rush need during the offseason. Coples isn't the same prospect as Ex-Tarheel pass rusher Julius Peppers, but offers an immense amount of upside. He has the ability to be as good as he wants, but questions about his passion and work ethic have raised flags, especially after a subpar senior season in Chapel Hill. Coples' natural skill set and pro potential will force NFL teams to do their due diligence.

Many have postulated that Pete Carroll, the competition atmosphere, and a solid high-effort identity on defense could get the most out of Quinton Coples at the next level. He's a guy that's been knocked for his effort in the 2011 North Carolina season, and he even graded himself poorly for his senior year performance. In this case -- as has been said -- it's a high-risk but potentially high-reward selection for Seattle.
