Former NFL Coach and now CBSSports.com analyst Pat Kirwin published his most recent mock draft on Tuesday and his projection for the Seahawks was a familiar one. Said Kirwin:
Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College: The Seahawks could go in a few directions at this spot, but Kuechly makes the most sense to me to QB Pete Carroll's defense. As Carroll said to me last week, linebackers in free agency moved off the board slowly because there are some very interesting linebackers in the draft.'
This echoes something that Kirwin tweeted a couple of weeks ago -
Pete Carroll has a take on slow signing of l backers. 'There are close to 12 draftables with good grades which hurts vets looking for deals'

Whether Carroll had Kuechly in mind for the Seahawks when he said that to Kirwin remains to be seen, but with the recent departure of starting middle linebacker David Hawthorne to New Orleans, the Seahawks need at that position certainly needs to be addressed. The signing of free agent Barrett Ruud doesn't necessarily preclude the Hawks from looking at Keuchly with the #12 pick, but there are a couple of inside linebackers in the 2nd and 3rd round discussion that could make some sense. It will be very interesting indeed.
