Peyton Manning Rumors: Seahawks Chances Improve With Redskins Not A Candidate

Many people thought that when Peyton Manning was released from the Seattle Seahawks that the Washington Redskins would be an immediate candidate to land him. The Redskins have the money to spend and a vacant hole at quarterback. They do have a decent team that could definitely rise up and contend for a title if a quarterback like Manning arrives and is totally healthy.

Evan Silva of Pro Football Talk has the report.

Russell appeared on SportsCenter Thursday and, citing multiple sources, reported that Manning doesn’t want to play in the nation’s capital and has already informed the team.

"A couple of different sources inside the organization have told me that Manning’s camp made it pretty clear to Redskins officials he doesn’t want to come here," said Russell. "… There’s lots of reasons for that. His brother Eli, the colder weather, the whole situation down in Miami and so on and so forth. But unless that changes — and I’m taking my sources at their word — I don’t think Manning’s coming here to D.C."

Manning and the Seattle Seahawks still is a bit of a remote possibility right now, but you have to think that as Manning eliminates teams their hopes rise up just a little. Seattle does have an attractive team with a physical power runner in Marshawn Lynch plus a decent (not top-line, but decent) young receiving corps that would have to be pretty attractive offensively. Manning will have his pick of teams for sure and the Seahawks are still contenders.
