Official 2012 NFL Draft Order Announced: Seahawks Hold Six Picks

Seattle Seahawks' General Manager John Schneider doesn't hide the fact that he loves collecting draft picks. Over the last couple years, Schneider and Pete Carroll have traded away players and moved back in the Draft to accumulate more capital and the Seahawks picked nine times in both 2010 and 2011. In this year's draft, they currently sit with six, after being awarded no compensatory picks.

Here are the official picks the Seahawks have been allotted:

1st Round: Pick #12, 12th overall

2nd Round: Pick #11, 43rd overall

3rd Round: Pick #12, 75th overall

4th Round: Pick #11, 106th overall

6th Round: Pick #11, 181st overall

7th Round: Pick #18, 225th overall

Seattle lost its fifth-round pick to Buffalo in the trade for Marshawn Lynch, and their seventh-round pick to Detroit in the trade for Tyler Polumbus. They added Oakland's seventh-round choice in their trade of Aaron Curry. With six picks this year, only two teams, as it sits right now, will hear their name called to pick fewer times -- the Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints, each with five.

This likely means a few things -- first, it's very possible that we'll see Seattle trade back at least once this year to try and accumulate more picks. It might not be in the first round, but similarly to last year, their second-round pick might become valuable to another team and the Hawks may look to move it. If no trades materialize, with only six picks, look for the Hawks to be very active in rookie free agency, and likely have the inside slant on a lot of the most sought after undrafted players due to the numbers game for roster spots and a better chance for these guys to make the team.
