Seahawks vs. 49ers 2012: Seattle hangs tight with one of the NFL's best teams

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

The Seahawks had a chance to win or tie the game with less than two minutes remaining.

The Seattle Seahawks lost to the San Francisco 49ers 13-6 on Thursday night and fell to 4-3. The Seahawks had a chance to win the game late, and possessed the ball with less than two minutes remaining, but could not put together a final, game-winning scoring drive against the 49ers' vaunted defense.

Despite the loss, Seattle held tight with San Francisco, and there were a few positives to be drawn from the game, namely that the Seahawks competed with a team that is widely considered as the cream of the crop in the NFC and held the 49ers to just 13 points, according to Danny Kelly of SB Nation's Seattle Seahawks blog, Field Gulls:

"Seattle hung with what many have considered the class of the NFC and one of the top two or three teams in the entire NFL, in their place, and it's significant that they despite all the drops, the poor run defense, the awful game-long field position, the missed opportunities, and the untimely penalties, the Seahawks were, indeed, in a position to tie or even win the game on their final drive."

The Seahakws return to action in Week 8 with a game against the Detroit Lions.
