NFL Mock Draft 2012: Would Seahawks Risk Another First Round Linebacker Pick?

Stay connected for news and updates

Excellent NFL Draft site DraftBreakdown.com released their most recent mock draft on Monday, and Ryan Lownes has projected a player to Seattle that I haven't seen linked to the Seahawks thus far, Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly.

Said Lownes:

Luke Kuechly - LB - Boston College - Ok, so maybe the last time the Seahawks targeted a linebacker in the first round it didn't work out. With both Leroy Hill and David Hawthorne free agents, it looks like it is time for Seattle to revisit the position high on draft weekend. Luke Kuechly may very well be the anti-Aaron Curry. What he lacks in athleticism, he more than makes up for with rare instincts and tackling ability. Simply put: he has a nose for the ball and will be an impact player at the next level behind a solid front.

Lownes is right to bring up Aaron Curry because Seahawks fans are still undoubtedly snake-bitten about the performance of the former 4th-overall pick and subsequent trade bait to the Raiders. That said, the Seahawks do have a great need at linebacker and may look to pick up a player with the kind of instincts that Kuechly possesses.
