The Seattle Seahawks have released wide receiver Owen Spencer from the practice squad and added offensive lineman Brent Osborne, according to the Tacoma News Tribune's Eric Williams. Both players involved are rookies trying to find their way in the NFL this season.

Spencer played for North Carolina State during his college career and built up a reputation as a deep-threat receiver. He set an ACC record with 22.3 yards per catch during his sophomore season in 2008, only to break that record one year later as a junior with 25.5 yards per catch. Spencer pieced together a monster senior year in 2010 that saw him record 1,529 yards (best in the ACC that year) and 11 touchdowns (second-best in the conference).  For now, though, he has been replaced on the Seahawks practice squad and will have to find a new team elsewhere.

Osborne is an Ivy League man from Harvard who played three solid years as a member of the Crimson after seeing no playing time at all as a freshman. He played in 25 games during the three-year span and started 19 of them while earning second team All-Ivy honors in his junior and senior season.

The Seahawks will try to shape Osborne into a formidable player and contributor over the coming season as the Harvard man attempts to make his transition into the NFL.
