Mike Karney Set To Visit Seahawks Tuesday

Free agent fullback Mike Karney will visit with the Seahawks on Tuesday amid the team's attempt to pare the roster down to 80 players. Karney has visited the Hawks earlier this season as well -- he was brought in for a physical, which he passed, and expected to get signed but that didn't materialize.

According to an article out of the Kent Reporter, Karney was told that the Seahawks still wanted to see what they had in their young fullbacks but that if those players didn't work out they'd give him a call. Karney said:

"They just converted a couple tight ends to fullback and want to see if they can give them more time. My meeting went extremely well. My physical went well. I think they just want to see if these guys can get it done. If they can't, I think I will be the first guy they call."

It would appear that the Seahawks weren't convinced by their young fullbacks (probably converted TE Ryan Travis, who was released yesterday), and now may believe that Karney is the answer. He is a former All-Pro fullback for the Saints and played well for the Rams as well during his seven year career. He's a local product, from Covington and he attended Kentwood High School so it would be a homecoming of sorts for the veteran if he were signed.
