NFL Combine 2011: Kickers, Offensive Linemen, Tight Ends Begin Workouts

The real action is underway at the 2011 NFL Combine as kickers, tight ends and offensive linemen hit the field to run through the battery of tests typical of the scouting combine. The three groups will run the 40-yard dash, participate in jumping drills and go through position-specific drills throughout the day at Lucas Oil Stadium, all in front of personnel from every NFL team.

Coverage is already underway on NFL Network as analysts break-down every performance while highlighting some of the players to watch. Keep an eye on Jordan Cameron (TE from USC), who ran a 4.5 40 and looks to be shooting up the boards. Anthony Castonzo and Mike Pouncey are two offensive linemen to keep an eye on, with plenty of NFL mock drafts projecting Pouncey to the Seahawks.

Another of the intriguing lineman prospects, Tyron Smith, pulled out of the combine after opening some eyes earlier in the week. Smith, recovering from a knee injury, wowed scouts during the weigh-in portion, looking like a tight end with lineman size. He’ll work out at the USC pro day in March.

Locally, Washington State punter Reid Forrest will work out at the combine today, as well. Forrest became somewhat of a fan favorite for the Cougs as fans looked for some glimmer of hope during the last few disappointing seasons. After the Reid Forrest for Heisman campaign stalled, a Reid Forrest for first round has popped up, with CougCenter extolling the virtues of the versatile punter.
