Seahawks Place DB Ron Parker On IR, Are Expected to Activate WR Ricardo Lockette to 53-Man Roster

Some roster moves this week prior to the Seahawks matchup in Chicago with the Bears.

The Seahawks announced this afternoon that they've placed rookie defensive back Ron Parker on the injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. Parker was an undrafted free agent out of small school Newberry that was with the team in training camp. He was released and caught on with the Oakland Raiders, and even made their active squad for a couple of games. He was later released to make room for a replacement kicker when Sebastian Janikowski was injured, and the Seahawks snatched him back up to their active roster. He's a physical talent with some upside that the Seahawks like at the defensive back position, and don't be surprised to hear his name next season.

Though it hasn't been announced just yet, it's expected that the Hawks will activate WR Ricardo Lockette to their 53-man roster in Parker's place. Both Doug Baldwin and Lockette himself have tweeted alluding to the fact so expect that announcement tomorrow.

Lockette is a speedy track star and receiver out of small school Fort Valley State that went undrafted. He was signed by the Seahawks before training camp and impressed the coaching staff and front office by making some acrobatic grabs in practice and getting behind the defense with his elite top-end speed. He's been stashed on the practice squad the entire year so it will be interesting to see if he is active on gameday for the Hawks' final three games.

Lockette, at 6'2, 211, will look utilize his speed and athleticism to create separation from opposing cornerbacks and will have to fight with Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, Ben Obomanu, Mike Williams, and Deon Butler for playing time. Personally, I'm excited at his potential and hope the Seahawks make a concerted effort to find him some snaps.

Finally, the Hawks signed DE John Graves to the practice squad and released LB Keith Darbut. They now have one open spot on their PS roster.
