Seahawks Not Pursuing David Garrard In Aftermath Of Tarvaris Jackson Injury

The Seattle Seahawks have not made any attempts to contact free agent quarterback David Garrard, according to John Clayton of ESPN. Coming on the heels of Sunday's game against the New York Giants, the speculation of the Seahawks bringing in a new quarterback draws roots from an injury suffered by quarterback Tarvaris Jackson during the game.

Jackson suffered a minor pectoral injury that sidelined him for the game at the beginning of the third quarter. In his one half of play, Jackson had 166 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 15-of-22 passing. Back-up Charlie Whitehurst finished the game well, going 11-of-19 for 149 yards and one touchdown as the Seahawks claimed a 36-25 victory in the Meadowlands.

The extent of Jackson's injury is not known yet, but the fact that the Seahawks have not contacted a free agent quarterback yet is promising.  If the Seahawks were to sign another quarterback, that man would most likely be Garrard, who spent nine seasons with the Jaguars before being cut this offseason to the surprise of the football world.

Things look good for Jackson to return to the field soon, which is good news for a Seahawks team that has rebounded from a 0-2 start with two wins in its past three games. The Seahawks will take on the Cleveland Browns on the road this week.
