Seattle U Basketball: Aaron Broussard Wills Seattle To A 72-70 Win Over Montana State

Seattle University forward Aaron Broussard can’t solve the team’s shooting problems all by himself.

But against Montana State tonight, Broussard did everything in his power to will the Redhawks back from a ten point deficit to win the game 72 to 70 despite more sub-40% shooting from his teammates.

Broussard continued his outstanding play of late by finishing with a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Sterling Carter finished with 14 points, only scoring two on late free throws in the second half after hot 3-point shooting in the first half.

One of the reasons for this win for Seattle U was the use of a 1-3-1 zone halfway through the second half with transfer Mark McLaughlin at the point pressuring Montana State guards into turnovers, poor decisions, and generally inconsistent offensive play.

Reserve Shawn Reid scored 23 points on 10-for-18 shooting for MSU, but to their credit Seattle U held forward Bobby Howard to 1-for-6 shooting and just four points.
