Stay connected for news and updates

The Seattle Mariners suffered through an excruciating 6-hour loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, and now look to avoid being swept at home on Wednesday with Felix Hernandez taking the mound.

Hernandez (13-8, 2.92 ERA) has struggled in his last two starts, allowing 13 runs and 21 hits in just 8 2/3 innings total. King Felix gave up seven runs in just four innings en route to a 8-3 loss against Toronto on Thursday. Hernandez is 0-1 with a 4.67 ERA in his last three starts against the Orioles as well.

Baltimore will counter with Joe Saunders (2-2, 4.30), making his fifth start for the O's after being acquired from the D-backs in late August. Saunders has not faced the Mariners since 2010 but is 8-1 with a 3.75 ERA in 14 starts against them. He allowed three runs in six innings of work in his last start against Oakland, eventually taking the loss.

First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PT with coverage on Root Sports and 710 ESPN AM.
