Mariners Vs. Rangers Final Score: Seattle Scores Run In 2-1 Loss

Stay connected for news and updates

The Seattle Mariners had a chance to capture their three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Sunday, but they came up short. At the end of a pitchers' duel between Blake Beavan and Matt Harrison, the M's ended up taking the 2-1 loss.

Adrian Beltre blasted his 33rd home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth inning to snap the scoreless tie and get the Rangers on the board first. Mitch Moreland hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to push the Texas lead to 2-0.

Justin Smoak led off the eighth inning with his 16th home run of the season -- and second of the series -- but the Mariners were unable to get any more runs across as they dropped the game and the series.

Beavan fell to 9-10 after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk across seven innings of work. Harrison was just that much better, going 8.2 innings and allowing one run on six hits and a walk. Harrison improves his record to 17-9 with the win.
