Mariners Vs. Angels Final Score: King Felix Falters In 5-2 Loss

Stay connected for news and updates

The Seattle Mariners were hoping to even up their home series against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. Unfortunately, even with Felix Hernandez on the mound, the M's came up short in a 5-2 loss.

Albert Pujols doubled home Torii Hunter in the first inning, giving the Angels an early edge. The Mariners tied things up in the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run from Trayvon Robinson. Later in the third, Franklin Gutierrez hit an RBI double that put Seattle on top, 2-1.

King Felix held the score there until the top of the eighth inning, which proved to be his undoing. Pujols reached on a fielding error that also allowed Mike Trout to score to tie the game and left runners on second and third with no outs. Mark Trumbo followed up with a single that drove in both runners to make it 4-2 Angels and knocked Hernandez out of the game. Howie Kendrick drove in Trumbo with a double for a big insurance run.
