Mariners Demote Hector Noesi To Triple-A

Throughout the 2012 season, Mariners fans have slowly come to dread Hector Noesi starts. Now it looks like they won't have to worry about them for the foreseeable future. After Noesi lost again on Wednesday, his record fell to 2-11 on the season with a 5.77 ERA in 17 starts. After the game, Noesi was demoted to Triple-A.

Noesi came over from the New York Yankees in the trade that brought Jesus Montero to town and sent Michael Pineda to the Big Apple. As Aaron Gleeman of HardballTalk points out, Noesi is still just 25 years old and could still grow into a serviceable fourth or fifth starter in an MLB rotation, but it is unlikely to happen this season.

The Mariners are expected to have bullpen pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma fill Noesi's start in the rotation. Iwakuma made a spot start for Kevin Millwood recently.
