Stay connected for news and updates

Mariners first-round pick, Mike Zunino, who was selected third overall in last month's MLB Draft, is set to begin his professional career at Single-A Everett, once he gets done with an awards show circuit.

Zunino, who currently plays catcher for the University of Florida, is a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award, which is awarded to the top catcher in the NCAA, was the winner of the Dick Howser Trophy, considered by many as the top award in collegiate baseball, and is also a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, which is given to the top amateur ballplayer in the nation. The winner of the Golden Spikes Award will be broadcast on ESPN on July 6.
